Setting Up Mercury FON
- Is there a setup or a connection fee?
- Mercury FON requires a $25 set-up fee for initial programming. However, this set up fee is waived if you sign up for a 6-month service agreement.
- Does Mercury FON require a contract?
- No, Mercury FON does not require a contract. However, if you do sign up for a 6-month service agreement, then we will waive your $25 set-up fee.
- How long does it take before I can use the service after signing up?
- Standard plans are available immediately after signing up for service, and Premium and Executive plans are generally available the next business day.
- Can I upgrade or downgrade my current Mercury FON account?
- Yes. To make changes to your Mercury FON service plan, you will need to call Customer Service, Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm EST. If you have signed the 6-month service agreement and had the $25 set-up fee waived, then you will need to wait until the agreement period expires to downgrade your plan.

No one has to know your personal cell phone #, or where you are at any time. Then, design your own virtual telephone switch with Mercury FON’s cutting edge voice mail and routing options. Create a menu to best serve your callers’ needs. Calls can be transferred anywhere in the US and Canada: To different departments, to home offices or cell phones, to voice mail, or even to our 24 hour award winning call center. As a result, Mercury FON helps you manage YOUR time efficiently. Features such as Follow-Me/Find-Me, Call Screening, Routing Schedules based on Time-of-Day / Day-of-Week, and Voice / Fax Message Delivery to E-mail, give you complete control, while remaining accessible!

- Does Mercury FON require any hardware, software or equipment?
- No, Mercury FON does not require hardware, software or equipment to operate.
- How many calls can Mercury FON handle at once?
- Mercury FON can receive up to three simultaneous calls. However, custom applications to accept larger call volumes can be accommodated. Please contact service@mercuryfon.com
- How many messages can I store in My Mercury FON?
- Mercury Fon can store up to 50 messages. Contact service @mercuryfon.com for custom storage options.
- How long are messages stored in My Mercury FON?
- Messages are stored 30 days. However, you will receive an e-mail with your message attached in an mp3 file which can be stored on your computer indefinitely.
- Can I purchase my phone through Mercury FON?
- Mercury FON is a virtual phone system designed to work with your current home/cell/business phone.

Phone Numbers
- Do I need to change my local and long distance carrier?
- No, Mercury FON operates separately from your local and long distance providers. However, if you wish to keep your current number and attach it to your Mercury FON virtual switch you have one of two options: forwarding your current number through your existing phone company or porting your number to Mercury FON.
- Can I use my current phone number with Mercury FON?
- Absolutely. Your customers can continue to call your existing business number, yet you receive the benefits of Mercury FON’s virtual switch.. There are two ways to do this: forwarding your current number through your existing phone company or porting your number to Mercury FON.
- How do I forward or port my existing phone number to Mercury FON?
- If you wish to keep your current number and attach it to your Mercury FON virtual switch you have one of two options: forwarding your current number through your existing phone company or porting your number to Mercury FON. To forward your number, contact your current phone company and ask them to forward your existing phone number to your new Mercury FON number. If you choose to transfer/port your existing number to Mercury FON (a $45 fee), you will need to change providers by filling out a form which we will provide, writing a letter releasing your number to Mercury FON (we’ll provide an example), and faxing a copy of your current bill to Mercury FON. This process may take up to 2 weeks.
- Can I choose my own number?
- You may select your local or toll-free number from a pool of phone numbers supplied during the sign-up process. Custom toll-free number requests are $25 each and take 3-5 business days for completion. You also transfer/port your existing phone number to your Mercury FON account for a $45 fee.
- Can I have more than one local number on the same account?
- Yes, depending on the plan you have purchased. The Executive Plan allows you to have up to 3 local and/or toll-free numbers.
- Can Mercury FON forward calls to more than one phone number?
- Absolutely. The number of Follow-Me/Find-Me extensions available to you (1,3 or 15) depends on the service plan you choose. Each Follow-Me/Find-Me extension can forward calls to up to 6 numbers consecutively.
- Can I get a local phone number in Canada?
- Yes, there is an additional $5 monthly charge for a local Canadian number.
- Can my Mercury FON number forward to an international number?
- Yes; however, you are responsible for the international calling rate, which varies by country. Rates may also be higher to Alaska and Hawaii. Please contact service@mercuryfon.com for rate information.
- Can international callers reach my toll-free number?
- No, international callers can not call a toll-free number and must reach you via your local number.
- What are the international calling rates?
- Rates vary by country. Please contact service@mercuryfon.com for specific rates.
- Are 888, 877, and 866 toll free numbers the same as 800 numbers?
- Yes, all are toll-free numbers.
- Does Mercury FON work with any phone, even voice over IP (VOIP)?
- Yes.

Features
- Will I be able to read my voice mails?
- Not at this time, although voice to text capability will be available in the future.
- Can I open the audio files from my cell phone email?
- Accessing your audio files from your cell phone’s e-mail application depends on the cell phone and its applications. Audio files are sent as mp3 files. Check your cell phone user guide or contact your mobile service provider for more information.
- How does Fax to E-mail work?
- With Mercury Fax, you can receive multiple fax attachments directly in your e-mail, create your own cover sheets, edit your pages, and even SEND faxes directly from your e-Mail, displaying your Mercury Fax number. You’ll also be able to see records of previously sent or received faxes and drafts, all conveniently online.
- Can I send faxes?
- No, you cannot send faxes directly from your Mercury FON. However, if you sign up for Mercury Fax, you can send faxes directly from the My Mercury Fax online tool.
- Can I use my Mercury FON number as just a voice mailbox?
- Yes, you will be able to choose a voice mail-only option during the sign-up process.
- How long can I record my voicemail greeting?
- Your voicemail greeting can be up to 4 minutes long, and callers can leave messages up to 4 minutes long.
- Can I send callers straight to voicemail?
- Yes, you can call your Mercury FON at any time and change your availability status to “unavailable.” Calls will route directly to voicemail until you change your availability again.
- Can I record my own auto-attendant message?
- Yes, this is Greeting 1 in the set-up process. Greeting 2 is reserved for menu option 3.
